Today, on 2014 is the first day I go to Semanggang alone to
know about Tidal Bore. It is very excited to understand about the unique of
that carnival that attract people from outside to come and join this carnival.
As I know basically about Tidal Bore Carnival is a unique festival because it
one and the only in Malaysia. Tidal Bore or locally known as Pesta Benak at Sri
Aman or Semanggang in Sarawak’s Batang Lupar River is make a tourist from many
country come to Pesta Benak. Batang Lupar River is the river that famous with
crocodiles place or Sarawak’s people call the crocodile known as Bujang Senang.
Benak come one time in one year only.
This
carnival have only three days. The first day I travel alone to Pesta Benak I
feel very excited because I can see the harmony among local people community in
Semanggang. How they can life together at longhouse with different families.
More are the local community in Semanggang is Iban or Dayak, and the rest are
Cina and Malay. I see so many stall along the Semanggang’s waterfront. This
waterfront is the place that we can see benak. At the night as usual the

Second
day in Semanggang I feel very excited to know more about Pesta Benak, before
this I only can hear from my friends. Today is a sunny day that I use the sun
glasses and cap like a tourist come from outside country. Than the activities
for today is more then last night because it start earlier. I only can take
more and more pictures. Today we have a longboat paddling competition, water
sports , food, cultures and art performances are perfom and many activities that
they do today. Pesta Benak was very fun. So many people come to this carnival
like we can see the ant when they find the sugar. The Benak can make the
international tourist come to play tidal bore surfing or mostly like play ski.
The day was so fast, this is my last day at
Semanggang. The last day is like yesterday because today also so many people
come to Pesta Benak. I can’t understand why now I visit Semanggang and why not
a long long time ago. Than tonight I can
see the Miss Benak competition. This competition shown a traditional
customs and also use a dress.
Today I
go back to UiTM again. The memory and the experience that I travel alone to
Semanggang is the best experience in my life. Not for this year and the year
that will soon I will bring my families and my friends to feel the day at Pesta
Benak.
