It was an every three year event so I joined in the year of 2014. The journey to Pekan Marudi from my hometown in the middle of Baram took 5 hours by car and 8 hours by boat. It was an amazing moments that I ever experienced in my life. Along our journey to Marudi, we been through 3 hours using the Timber Camp road to Miri. Then, the next 2 hours from Miri also using the Timber Camp road. For a first time traveller, this will be the hardest way to travel because the conditions of the roads that very curvy along the high mountains. It was like going for a roller coaster ride.

Arriving in Marudi it was almost dark so we quickly find any hotel to stay. After rushing here and there to find hotel, we finally got one . We stay at one of the budget hotel known as Marudi Hotel. It is good to have place to stay eventhough the it was an unexpected by us. That night and foward we have our meals around the Marudi Market.

The place we stayed during the festival. |
The day! As early in the morning we gather with hundreds of peoples from all around Baram and even there were some tourists from the outside country. The events were very exciting seeing the competition of boat races. But, there are no place to take shelter so we need to hold our own umbrella which make the crowded uncomfortable. At the of the festival we went back again using the same routes. It was a very tiring yet the most unforgettable for me. Yes of course i will want to go there again even if its tiring because this is what i called the "Enchanted Serendipity Travel" of mine.
